Hello! My name is Darren Barker and I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I love capturing moments and telling stories, that’s the way I try to sum up what I do in this space and why I enjoy it so much.
More specifically it’s photography, videography and writing to tell stories in sport.
Sport is a great love of mine but even further then that is the people behind the sport.
What quirks do players have off the court? Who owns a clothing label? What was that experience actually like?
Questions like these for not only players but everyone involved in sport.
The stories are endless, the insights are endless and the great thing about it is every single one is different.
I’m also super keen to do it in a way the athlete wants to, what stories do they / you want to tell?
So much coverage is “media scripted” in a sense that it often doesn’t feel authentic. I want to break that barrier.
