The “automate or delegate” strategy

If you are doing a task 100 times per year, you should be automating it or delegating it.

That is what a voice online said and geez I wish I remembered who that voice was.

There are so many people yelling at you online that it all becomes clouded!

Anyway this comment stuck with me.

If you do a certain task over 100 times per year then why not save yourself all that time and either automate it, or delegate it?

Super interesting.

For full transparency I think this person actually said 50 times, but I felt 100 was more realistic…

It really makes you think about how you can save time with this process. My mind goes to things like clearing emails, responding to generic emails, simple creative processes and basic tasks that relate to your chosen career.

But what does automate and delegate mean in this context? Let's see:

Automate

  • Hello the ever emerging art of Artificial Intelligence and how that can help us

  • How can you use AI to do these repetitive tasks?

  • Set up things like generic email responses or email templates

  • Set up creative templates rather than always starting from scratch

Delegate

  • Think about hiring staff to do repetitive tasks

That's literally all I think about when it comes to delegating but it's probably true. Don't want to do something 100 times per year? Give it to someone else to do. Simple.

This concept is very intriguing to me.

Have a think about how you can speed up tasks you do 50-100 times per year.
